Papanui High School Rugby 2018

Papanui High School Rugby 2018

After discussion between the club and school the vision for rugby has been updated.

We have made some changes to teenage rugby which we believe give more opportunities and choices to those students wishing to play. Students can choose one or both options.

For 2018 we will re-introduce some midweek games for Papanui High School boys’ teams supported by the club as we look to build the identity of Papanui HS rugby

Girls will continue to play the UC Cup matches on Wednesdays while boys will have the opportunity to sign up for some fixtures throughout term 2 and 3.

These are likely to include College Day in both the Junior ( U14/U15 ) and Senior ( U18 ) age groups plus midweek fixtures against local and touring schools. The junior team will also have the opportunity to attend the S.I end of season schools’ tournament in Queenstown during winter tournament week

Boys and girls in these midweek teams will sign up at school for the various fixtures .

More information in term 1

For those wishing to play Saturday rugby our pathway is via the Merivale Papanui RFC teams and they are pleased to announce that they will join forces with Belfast RFC for the 2018 season which also allows the players to play together with their friends without the pull of different club allegiances. This creates a pathway for rugby into later life. These teams will be rebranded the MP Cobras and players can register via the club website Click here from 1st February 2018

We believe this shows a blueprint moving forward and covers the aspirations that the school / clubs / parents and most importantly the players themselves have.
